The action-packed book of the "Return of the Seven" Director Burt Kennedy is a magic hat full of anecdotes!
"Hollywood Trail Boss is a tribute to a half-century of hard-hitting, comic-action filmmaking the likes
of which we haven't seen since. Hear the story from the man himself - and find out who the real legend is."
Behind the scenes of the wild, wild western.
Burt Kennedy:"I was in Spain making The Return of the Seven with Yul Brynner in 1965. I hadn't had a haircut
for three months, and I looked pretty shaggy. One day at lunch I asked the hair department if I could
get a clip. Instead of a haircut, I got an "ear-cut" - the barber accidentally cut the top of my ear off.
Everybody panicked when they saw blood streaming down my neck, except for the stuntmen, who laughed like hell.
The first aid man patched me up and I went back to work.
There was a bullfight scene in the film. The following Sunday our matador fought at the Alicante bullring and
did so well he was awarded two ears and a tail. He presented them to Yul, who was the guest of honor that night.
When I got back to the Carlton Hotel, where we were all staying, there was an envelope in my mailbox.
Inside of the envelope was one of the bulls' ears that had been presented to Yul, with a note to me saying, "Use mine!".
Yul Brynner had a great sense of humor and was a complete delight on the film."
A very interesting book with many insights into the movie business. Recommended!

A matter of honor. Alicante, Spain 1966: Actor Yul Brynner rides into the bullring in Alicante and the crowd cheers.
Brynner was given the honor of being "Aguacil" at a bullfight held for a local charity.
The "Aguacil" leads the parade of bullfighters into the ring and symbolically receives the keys to the Bulls'
gate leading to the ring.

Burt Kennedy on Yul Brynner: "The last time I saw him was at the airport in Madrid. He put his arms
around me and said, "God bless you, Burt." I said, "God bless? I thought you were Buddhist."
We had a last laugh together and he was gone. I've missed him ever since." ("Hollywood Trail Boss")
